Special purpose acquisition companies (SPACS) have exploded as an increasingly popular way for private companies to go public.  There were more SPAC IPOs in 2020 than traditional IPOs.  The market for SPAC IPOs and so-called “de-SPAC” transactions, by which private companies become public companies by combining with a SPAC, is as hot as ever.  Many leading investors and businesspeople (not to mention a number of celebrities and athletes),  are participating in some way in the SPAC boom.

Mark Shifke

As CFO, Mark Shifke is responsible for Billtrust’s financial health. Bringing over 35 years of experience to Billtrust, Mark most recently served as CFO at Green Dot, also holding General Manager, Government Programs and VP, Special Projects positions. Previously, he served as Managing Director, M&A and Corporate Finance Advisory at J.P. Morgan and as a VP at Goldman Sachs. He has also served as a Partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, a law firm and a Principal at KPMG LLP. Mark received his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law, a J.D. from Tulane Law School, and B.A. from Tulane University.
